In today’s world, we all know how important it is to protect our homes from outside threats. But what about protecting it from the threats that come from inside the home?

Mold fungi and decay fungi can be a serious problem for builders and homeowners. Decay fungi can literally destroy the materials they grow on. And fungal by-products and spores can pose potential health risks.

According to the Insurance Institute:

  • At the end of 2002, about 24,000 homeowners had unresolved mold-related insurance claims.
  • Insurers paid out over 2.5 billion dollars in these claims. That's double the 2001 figure!
  • 10,000 additional mold-related claims were filed in 2002.

In a survey of homes in twenty-four US cities, nearly 50% of them had moisture problems. The majority of the molds found were cladosporium, penicillium, and Alternaria, all of which can potentially cause chronic sinus infections, respiratory infections, and other allergic responses. Another mold, Stachybotrys, although not as common, was also found. Stachybotrys can produce myco-toxins that can also have potential negative health effects.

Clearly, fungi should be considered potentially harmful pests, not only to your home but also to those living in it, and should be targeted for control. So, how do you protect your home from the threat of mold? The answer is with Mold-Care.

Bora-Care, a long-lasting termiticide, insecticide and fungicide, has a unique ability to protect wood from the threat of termites, carpenter ants, wood destroying beetles and wood decaying fungi. And now it can offer even more protection from fungi when it’s used with our new product, Mold-Care.

Builders today face a range of challenges. Unexpected severe weather during construction and water used in construction materials can create a problem of moisture build up and turn homes into veritable mold incubators. In fact, there is approximately 6 tons of water in a new home that must evaporate after the home is finished. When mold spores land on a damp spot indoors, they begin growing and digesting whatever they are growing on in order to survive.

In laboratory tests, scientists have shown that the active ingredient in Bora-Care is an effective means of protecting materials against fungi. Bora-Care with Mold-Care enhances this protection to include the control of mold.

The active ingredient in Mold-Care is a specific disinfectant, the same disinfectant used to sanitize restaurants and hospitals. This disinfectant has been formulated by Nisus to be used with Bora-Care for even greater performance.

Bora-Care with Mold-Care kills existing mold and prevents mold from growing.
